This painting re-interprets traditional depictions of Tarku King’s Country in a cacophony of vibrant colours and bold brush strokes, depicting jilas (living waterholes) and jumus (soakages) way out in the Great Sandy Desert.
The heat of the desert drives the scene in plumes of hot pink and coral. While the movement of the linework is reminiscent of microscopic fragments of floral debris circulating the air on a desert breeze.
The acid yellow of baking salt pans is tempered by the cool green of trees and dry grass balancing the desert extremes – a reminder that life persists here, even amongst the arid sands.
108cm x 108cm 16mm 100% silk satin with hand rolled edges and double sided printing.
